1967 Chambers Brothers (NR-12-OP1)
Piece: Original poster promoting 1967 Chamers Brothers shows at the Matrix (signed by artist)
Series Number: NR-12
Printing/Date: First (pre-concert), 1967
Performer(s): Chambers Brothers
Artist(s): Victor Moscoso
Venue: The Matrix
Size (Framed): 23” x 29”
AW Condition Assessment: Museum Grade
Condition Notes: Direct from the personal collection of Victor Moscoso, this piece is in true mint condition. Sharp corners, no handling wear, and brilliant unfaded color. Given its preservation and provenance, this example would reasonably be expected to have a strong shot at CGC 10 if submitted for grading.
Framing Materials:
Frame: 3” Wood
Matting: Custom Cut, Acid-Free Double Mat
Glazing: Conservation Acrylic - blocks 99% of UV lights (upgrade to Optium museum acrylic available)
Notes: Few images capture the optical intensity of the psychedelic era quite like Neon Rose #12. Moscoso’s electric composition. A halftone face awash in searing pinks and oranges, mirrored lenses reflecting undulating blue typography - it feels as modern and confrontational today as it did in 1967. The image vibrates. It hums. It pulls you inward. What appears simple at first glance becomes a masterclass in color theory and visual tension the longer you stand before it.
This example comes directly from Victor Moscoso’s personal collection and is signed by the artist in pencil, adding a layer of provenance that elevates it beyond even its already iconic status. The design has been exhibited in museums around the world and has permeated popular culture — most famously serving as the visual inspiration for the band poster in Almost Famous. It is one of those rare works that transcends its origin as a concert poster and enters the realm of fine art.
Preserved in mint condition with exceptional color saturation and sharpness, this piece presents at the highest level. A museum-caliber example of one of the defining images of the psychedelic movement — bold, historic, and unmistakably Moscoso.
